Carnitine 90 tablets

Carnitine is a dietary supplement that provides 1000 mg of carnitine tartrate per daily dose, indicated for adult sportsmen and women who engage in intense physical activity.
Carnitine is the vitamin-like compound responsible for transporting long-chain fatty acids into the cellular units of energy production: the mitochondria.
Its importance lies in the fundamental role it plays in the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria. Since the fatty acid carrier molecule, acyl-CoA, cannot cross the cell membrane of the mitochondria, a carnitine deficiency causes a reduction in the concentration of fatty acids in the mitochondria and, consequently, reduced energy production.
The fatty acids must be transferred from CoA to carnitine. The acyl-carnitine molecule transports the fatty acid to the mitochondrial surface of the inner mitochondrial membrane where it is released for transformation into energy (the fat is 'burned').
Camitine performs many other physiological functions, including the conversion of ketoacid analogues of branched-chain amino acids, valine, Ieucine and isoleucine, a function that is extremely important in fasting, starvation and exercise.
