Moringa (Moringa oleifera) is a plant belonging to the Moringaceae family, it grows in India and at the feet of the Himalayas and is cultivated, for the most part, in the equatorial and tropical areas of the planet (Ethiopia, Philippines, Sudan) and in South America ( Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Paraguay and Argentina); It has emerald-green leaves, white flowers and a flavor that resembles that of asparagus.
La Moringa, known as "miraculous tree" or "tree of life", can reach a maximum height of 10 meters and being a rich and complete food, such as to be a valuable help to deal with malnutrition in the world, the FAO he promoted cultivation.
Ayurvedic medicine includes it in the treatment of fever, flu, colds, joint pains and gout; the leaves are a precious source of proteins useful to prevent malnutrition due to the scarcity of food; the infusion of leaves is used, in different places, to reduce blood sugar, fight hypertension and in the treatment of certain respiratory disorders such as bronchitis, tuberculosis and malaria.

Moringa leaves have long been used as a cholesterol-lowering remedy in people with lipidemia and obesity problems; in a scientific study (Journal of Ethnopharmacology) it was shown that the administration of a dry extract of Moringa in diets characterized by high amounts of fat reduces blood levels of cholesterol in the blood and in the liver, confirming the activity of this plant in the treatment cholesterol lowering. In a subsequent study (Journal of Ethnopharmacology), the administration of 200 mg / kg / day of Moringa oleifera supplemented with the normal diet also highlighted the reduction of blood levels of phospholipids, triglycerides and atherogenic index.
