Yamamoto® Research Epalin-C - Milk Thistle extract and Vitamin C based dietary supplement. In modern society, we are constantly exposed to mixtures of chemical compounds, foods and substances that can overload the processes that the body uses to eliminate toxic substances. In fact, toxins tend to accumulate in the body, resulting in an overload of the purification systems, i.e. all those organs responsible for eliminating waste, and in particular the liver. The liver is the primary filtering system of the human body: it converts toxins into waste products, cleans the blood and metabolises nutrients. Several properties are attributed to the milk thistle: it accelerates the regeneration process of the liver, stimulates protein synthesis and acts as a defence against hepatotoxic substances (such as alcohol). What is Epalin-C Epalin-C is a dietary supplement containing Milk Thistle extract and Vitamin C. Vitamin C contributes to cell protection from oxidative stress and normal energy metabolism. In addition, Milk Thistle plays an antioxidant and supportive role in digestive function, liver function and the body's purifying functions. The synergic action of these two elements provides an antioxidant effect combined with a hepatoprotective action. Silymarin, in fact, acts by modifying the cell membranes of hepatocytes, thus preventing toxic substances and toxins from entering liver cells. It is also able to increase hepatic levels of glutathione, a very important antioxidant agent, thus promoting liver regeneration. Several studies support the functionality of this plant, which is why it is used in the preparation of food supplements for liver detoxification. The addition of vitamin C, a very important water-soluble vitamin, supports the body's antioxidant activity, neutralising the action of free radicals, as well as participating in various metabolic reactions and raising the immune system's barriers.
