YAMAMOTO® RESEARCH
Yamamoto® Research Cordyceps - Food supplement indicated as a support to the body's natural defenses. Cordyceps sinensis, also known as 'caterpillar fungus' or 'DongChongXiaCao' (plant in summer, insect in winter), is the botanical name of a fungus, an ascomycete characteristic of Chinese medicine and one of the most highly regarded remedies in Traditional Medicine. Native to the Tibetan plateau, it is very rare and has been much revered over the millennia for its chameleon-like characteristics and numerous properties. Curiously, it grows during winter by parasitising insect larvae of the genus Thitarodes armoricanus (also known as ghost moths) and, when the mushroom reaches maturity in spring, it sprouts from the head of the caterpillar and begins to release its spores. In Eastern tradition, it is the mushroom of power, conferring vigour, stamina and willpower. Cordyceps sinensis is undoubtedly an excellent tonic and supports the function of the respiratory tract, as well as being very useful in treating stress. It is also capable of supporting metabolism by increasing cellular bioenergy (the available amount of ATP) by up to 55%, resulting in greater resistance to fatigue.
Yamamoto® Research Cordyceps is a dietary supplement indicated to support the body's natural defences*. Cordyceps extract has a tonic and metabolism-supporting effect**. In addition, Cordyceps extract supports the function of the respiratory tract. Cordyceps is in fact attributed with the ability to improve immune defences, as well as being considered an adaptogen, i.e. a remedy that can increase the body's energy and strength and reduce fatigue. Chemical analysis of this mushroom shows an excellent content of lipids, proteins, trace elements, vitamins and polysaccharides. Substances with biologically active properties include chordicepin (structurally similar to the sugar D-mannitol) and chordicepic acid. In addition, the polysaccharide component plays a key role in determining the beneficial activities of this fungus. Cordyceps can also be used by athletes for its action on tissue oxygenation, which occurs by promoting relaxation of the bronchial, bronchiolar and vessel wall muscles. This results in an increase in VO2max and blood flow to the tissues, effects that make this mushroom a very valuable support, especially for endurance sportsmen. Its positive action on the function of the immune system also makes it suitable for endurance athletes. Several studies also seem to support the use of Cordyceps in the treatment of liver disorders and cardiovascular problems.
