YAMAMOTO® RESEARCH
Yamamoto® Research Imugen PLUS - Food supplement Yamamoto® Research Imugen PLUS is a food supplement to support our immune system, based on lactoferrin and astragalus, with the addition of zinc, vitamin D and vitamin C. Zinc, vitamin D and vitamin C contribute to the normal function of the immune system. Lactoferrin and astragalus help support the body's natural defences, while rose hip has a supportive and restorative effect, with antioxidant properties. Lactoferrin is a glycoprotein composed of 703 amino acids, which transports iron in the blood and also has considerable antimicrobial properties, capable of exerting an effective and fundamental protective action on the infant's intestinal mucosa. Abundant in human colostrum, lactoferrin circulates in the body mainly in plasma, and is an essential part of white blood cells. Its recognised bacteriostatic activity relates in particular to Escherichia coli, but it also has a bactericidal effect on many Gram-negative bacterial species, thanks to its ability to damage the outer layers of the cell membrane (LPS) of certain Gram-negative bacterial species. By binding to the glycosaminoglycans of the plasma membrane, lactoferrin also has an antiviral effect, blocking the entry of various viruses and thus preventing the onset and proliferation of infection. Taken as a supplement, it reaches the gastrointestinal tract without being degraded, making it a powerful natural immunostimulant and modulator of inflammatory cytokines on the mucosa, promoting binding with the iron ion and taking part in the body's antioxidant processes. Astragalus is also a weapon of traditional oriental phytotherapy that has found increasing use in modern supplements to aid the body's natural defences. A plant belonging to the legume family, Astragalus is native to northern China and has been used for thousands of years in traditional medicine as an adaptogen and to increase resistance to disease. Astragalus contains triterpene saponins, flavonoids, biogenic amines and polysaccharides, as well as amino acids, iron, zinc, copper, chromium, coumarins, choline, betaine, sitosterol, triterpene glycosides and numerous acids (folic, nicotinic, chlorogenic, caffeic, linolenic), making it undoubtedly a 'multifunctional' remedy. Today, it is considered an excellent supplement to be used to help the body's defences, thanks to its wealth of powerful bioactive elements. In view of its adaptogenic properties, i.e. its ability to efficiently support the body during particularly physically and mentally demanding periods, it is also a useful natural remedy for tiredness, fatigue, convalescence and stress. The dog rose is a thorny shrub belonging to the Rosaceae family, which grows wild throughout Italy and Europe, and whose qualities have been known since Roman times and the Middle Ages. The rose hip, also known as the wild rose, is known for its very high concentration of vitamin C (100 grams of its berries have the same ascorbic acid content as a kilo of oranges!). Its berries, seeds and stones contain other vitamins such as A, E, K and some B vitamins, as well as folic acid, valuable flavonoids, tannins, carotenoids and fatty acids (including oleic, palmitic, oleanolic, stearic and linoleic acids). Rose hip is also rich in minerals, particularly iron, zinc, copper, calcium, manganese, boron, sodium, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium. There is a valuable synergy between vitamin C and flavonoids, which promote and enhance the absorption of vitamin C itself. Rose hip extract therefore has an immunomodulatory, antioxidant and vitamin-boosting effect, and is an adjuvant in flu syndromes. The formulation of our supplement is also completed, as listed above, by the presence of Vitamin D3, C and zinc. Vitamin D3 is a crucial substance for the health of our bones and immune system. It contributes to achieving and maintaining adequate bone mass by fixing calcium internally, and is also essential for the prevention of osteoporosis and fractures in adults. It has a modulating effect on the inflammatory response, which is essential for normal immune system function. Vitamin C (or ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin that must necessarily be introduced through food. It participates in many metabolic reactions, raises the barriers of the immune system and helps the body to take general preventive action against the risk of contracting diseases. It is best known for its antioxidant power, which is essential for neutralising free radicals.
Zinc is a trace element, i.e. a mineral present in the body in small quantities. It is a component of hundreds of metabolic reactions and is required for the functioning of several hormones (cofactor). It is essential for a good immune response, wound healing and tissue repair. Studies have also shown that zinc intake helps to increase the level of T lymphocytes, thereby reducing the duration and severity of infections.
