ERBA VITA MELISSA COMPOUND
Officinal herb The health effects (also called physiological or health actions) of medicinal plants depend on the active ingredients contained within them. These active ingredients are found in specific parts of the plant, such as roots, leaves, inflorescences and bark. The plants, in addition to the active ingredients, contain additional nutritional factors, for example, vitamins, minerals, amino acids or fatty acids. The combination of all these substances (active ingredients and nutritional factors) forms what is called by experts the "phytocomplex" of the officinal plant. The plant complex provides plant extracts with unique characteristics that can not be reproduced in the laboratory and guarantees greater stability over time of the active ingredients themselves. The properties of the Melissa were appreciated since antiquity: the Arabs in the tenth century considered it a good tonic, capable of driving out bad moods and sadness. The nectar of its flowers is much appreciated by the bees and also shows its Greek name "Melissa" which means the honey that gives honey, that is the bee. The Melissa is a perennial herbaceous plant whose leaves are opposite two by two, with the toothed margin and the variously hairy surface. The flowers are collected in whorls; the calyx is campanulate and the corolla is tubular. Before flowering they are yellowish then white or pink.
