YAMAMOTO® NUTRITION
Yamamoto® Nutrition Essential Omega-3 IFOS™ - Food supplement based on omega-3: eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)

Essential Omega3 IFOS™ is the Yamamoto® Nutrition supplement based on fish oil rich in Omega-3 titrated at 36% EPA and 24% DHA and IFOS™ certified, designed to provide the body with top quality fatty acids obtained from fish oil. Fish oil is rich in essential fatty acids of the Omega-3 series, such as EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), essential nutrients for supporting heart , joint, brain and eye health.

Omega-3 are polyunsaturated fatty acids, and are defined as essential because the body is not able to produce them and consequently we must necessarily obtain them through the diet (from sources such as fish, seafood, nuts, seeds and supplements).

Regular intake of purified fish oil, a source of EPA and DHA, offers several health benefits:
  • DHA helps maintain normal brain function (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily dose of 250mg of DHA) – 2 softgels per day; - DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal visual function (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily dose of 250mg of DHA) – 2 softgels per day;
  • EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily dose of 250mg of EPA and 250mg of DHA) – 2 softgels per day;
  • EPA and DHA contribute to the maintenance of normal triglyceride levels in the blood (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily dose of 2g of EPA and DHA) – 4 softgels per day;
  • EPA and DHA contribute to the maintenance of normal blood pressure (the beneficial effect is obtained with a daily dose of 3g of EPA and DHA) – 5 softgels per day.

Recent studies have shown that a diet rich in Omega-3 is also useful in counteracting the onset of cardiovascular diseases. These good fats actually contribute to heart health, because they reduce some risk factors such as high triglyceride levels and blood pressure.

Furthermore, the intake of fish oil rich in omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) can provide support to the joints, because these reduce inflammation and joint pain, improving the general health of the joints, and can also support the skin health, because EPA and DHA can help prevent acne, inflammation and premature aging.

But what is fish oil? And where does it come from?
Fish oil is an oil rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids obtained from fatty fish such as sardines, mackerel and salmon.
Its production process requires two essential steps: the extraction of the oil from the starting material and its purification. In addition to Omega-3 fatty acids, it contains a variable quantity of compounds, such as hydrocarbons, long-chain alcohols, waxes and esters which can influence the properties of fish oil. Purification allows you to eliminate all unwanted substances, but must ensure that the desired components are not damaged. The final product is a source of long-chain Omega-3 fatty acids concentrated to provide high doses of EPA and DHA.

Sport and Omega-3
Even for those who regularly practice physical activity, supplementation with good fats from the Omega-3 series is useful: in fact, they have a powerful antioxidant action capable of counteracting the formation of free radicals, which form in our body later to cellular metabolism. Furthermore, sports performance, reaction times and cognitive abilities, as well as lung function, can also benefit from taking Omega-3. Recovery is also influenced by the consumption of Omega-3: a study suggests that fatty acids from the Omega-3 series can also be useful for athletes to recover better and more quickly following injury.

What does IFOS™ certification mean?
The best-known quality certification is that represented by the IFOS™ (International Fish Oil Standards) brand. IFOS™ is essentially an analysis protocol released by an independent body (Nutrasource Diagnostic inc.) based at the University of Guelph in Canada, which has the most expensive and advanced technologies necessary to test the quality of Omega 3.
Based on the analysis results, IFOS™ assigns a quality score to Omega 3 and publishes the results of the tests conducted in its laboratories in its database (consumer reports).
To date, there are hundreds of Omega 3 supplements available on the market, but very few manage to obtain IFOS™ certification. An IFOS™ certified product is therefore a guarantee of absolute quality, at the top of the category.
Obtaining IFOS™ certification guarantees the highest purity and quality on the market. Launched in 2004, IFOS™ is Nutrasource's best-known certification, a symbol of transparency and quality throughout the world of food supplements. IFOS™ offers companies a way to test (and certify) their products to the highest standards of quality, safety and purity in the world, and then displays the complete test results online, to make them accessible to all consumers.
The IFOS database is accessible by anyone at any time, and it is therefore always possible to check whether or not the brand of the supplement we are interested in is present and also whether the production batch of the Omega 3 package we are about to purchase is directly present.
If the batch is present in the IFOS™ website database, we are certain that we have purchased a pure, uncontaminated supplement, without any risk to our health. All IFOS™ certified products can be seen here:
What does Friend of The Sea certification mean?
Our Essential OMEGA3 is certified Friend Of The Sea, one of the main international schemes for the certification of fish products and which guarantees the origin of the raw material from both fishing and aquaculture. Friend Of The Sea imposes various criteria for sustainable fishing and aquaculture, based on the principles of environmental respect, conservation and sustainable exploitation of marine resources, selective fishing methods and energy saving. The Friend of the Sea certification aims to contribute to the health of the oceans through the promotion of sustainable fishing practices, verifying that the companies participating in the program practice selective fishing techniques and reduce the impact of their work on the ecosystem, guaranteeing sustainable and traceable products to end consumers.
