Good digestion is based on the proper functioning of the digestive system. An important part of this process, useful in making food usable for nutritional purposes, is played by the digestive enzymes produced by our organism, a deficiency of which can cause considerable discomfort and inconvenience.

Digestive enzymes act as catalysts in the biochemical reactions that take place in living organisms: they play a fundamental role in supporting the work of the gastrointestinal system, they are protein elements that work by combining with a specific substance to transform it into a simpler molecule, favourable to its absorption. They aid in the breakdown, absorption and assimilation of the natural principles, macronutrients and trace elements found in food.

In the digestive process, some substances are pre-digested in the oral cavity by enzymes present in saliva and others in the stomach before reaching the small intestine, where the pancreas also secretes specific enzymes. This is why we find these molecules in various districts of the gastrointestinal tract: from saliva to the stomach, and on to the pancreas and small intestine. Each of them has a specific role: some enzymes are dedicated to the breakdown of fats, others are specialised for the breakdown of carbohydrates and still others for proteins. when enzyme activity is deficient, their lack can create various unpleasant disorders such as digestive difficulties, meteorism, bloating, irritable bowel syndrome and malabsorption phenomena resulting in reduced nutrient intake, with diarrhoea or constipation.

What is Enzymasic

Yamamoto® Research Enzymasic is a dietary supplement consisting of a mixture of plant-substrate enzymes (amylase, protease, glucoamylase, lipase, cellulase, lactase and pectinase), to which the enzymes bromelain, papain and alpha-galactosidase have been combined.

Enzymasic supplementation provides excellent support for stresses in the gastrointestinal system, improving the absorption of nutrients and aiding the digestion of macromolecules that are more difficult to 'break down' such as certain proteins, gluten, caseins and lactose.

In particular, enzymes of plant origin act at alkaline pH, between 20 and 30°C. Like those produced by our bodies, they can be divided according to their specific function:

Amylases - produced by the pancreas and salivary glands, they transform starches and sugars.
Proteases - break the bonds between proteins, thus have proteolytic activity and make it possible to assimilate the amino acids that make up a single protein.
Glucoamylase - enzymes that, together with amylase, help us digest carbohydrate-based foods such as rice or potatoes, and in particular are useful for digesting amylopectin, the most common form of starch in nature.
Lipases - transform triglycerides, breaking down the long chains formed by fatty acids. They therefore characterise the digestion of dietary lipids.
Cellulases - these enzymes break down cellulose and plant matter, and are usually produced by fungi, bacteria and protozoa. They aid the digestion of dietary fibres that are usually not digested by the human body.
Lactase - as the name implies, they digest lactose, milk and its derivatives, breaking down these molecules into simple sugars (glucose and galactose).
Pectinase - enzymes that break down fruit pectin, increasing its nutritional and prebiotic value.
Bromelain - enzymes with proteolytic activity also known for their systemic effects on inflammation and oxidation.
Papain - extracted from Papaya juice, they have proteolytic action as well as numerous biological activities, such as anti-inflammatory and anti-oedema.
Alpha-Galactosidase - promote the absorption of complex carbohydrates from food, reducing fermentation processes and counteracting gas formation.
